Two people received severe burn injuries as an explosion took place at a building in East Tejturi Bazar area of Dhaka’s Tejgaon on Friday night.

The injured were identified as Yasin, 35, and Jeetu, 28.

They are currently undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Inspector Bacchu Miah of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost said both Yasin and Jeetu are in critical condition.

Yasin suffered 50% burns, while Jeetu suffered 65% burns, he added.

Police are investigating the reason behind the explosion that occurred at around 9:30 pm on the second floor of a six-storey building in the area.
